Torch International
Conceived in Minneapolis in 1924 as an association of clubs in which male professionals could learn about other fields, Torch has grown into an international organization of some fifty clubs in the United States and Canada dedicated to fellowship, camaraderie, and lifelong learning. The International Association of Torch Clubs (IATC) helps individuals start new clubs and connects clubs and individuals through The Torch magazine, newsletters, outreach materials, and annual conventions.
The Torch Magazine
One of the perks of membership in Torch is receiving the peer-reviewed, award-winning magazine The Torch. Published three times a year, The Torch features the best of the best Torch presentations from clubs across the U.S. and in Canada. Several Frederick club members have had their presentations published in The Torch. The most recent presentation by a Frederick member to be published in The Torch is “Camp Ritchie: WWII Hotbed for Allied Intelligence,” by Marguerite Wilson, in the spring 2026 edition.
Presentations submitted for publication in The Torch should be limited to 3,000 words. For a complete style guide, including sample source citations and guidelines for submitting artwork, go to torch.org.
