Club Awards

The Frederick Torch Club is an award-winning group! In 2016 the Frederick club received Torch International’s award for the highest number (20) of new members. And the following year, the club received Torch International’s President’s Recognition Award for Outstanding Club in Region 3.

Paxton Award

The Paxton Award, created in honor and memory of W. Norris Paxton, past president of the International Association of Torch Clubs (IATC) and editor emeritus of The Torch, is given to the author of an outstanding paper presented by a Torch member at a Torch meeting during the previous year. Winners are selected from all papers submitted for publication in The Torch and receive a trophy and an honorarium at the annual convention. Frederick Torch member Leland Robinson has received the Paxton award twice in 2013 for paper, “The Self: Perspectives from East and West” and in 2019 for the paper, “Right Speech”

Gold Torch Award Winners

Gold Awards honor individuals who have provided outstanding service to Torch at the regional and international levels. Nominations are made by a Torch International director and must be approved by the IATC board.

Silver Torch Award Winners

Silver Awards honor individuals who have served in an exemplary manner at the club level. Each club may award this honor to one member per year for each 25 of its members.
